fraud? and UC affected by charity payments? - Wed, 06/11/2024 - 16:30
I wonder if I could just ask a bit of advice please. Do you know anything about benefit fraud? I have a client who gets a grant off us every month but failed to declare it on her UC account as a change of circumstance – they are now investigating her telling her she has committed fraud and may be subject to prosecution. I have looked online and it says charity payments are not part of the calculation when deciding the amount of UC entitlement so she hasn’t taken any money that isn’t hers – she’s pretty cut up about it and its only £60 a month as she gets industrial injurys too and PIP. She’s very mentally fragile and I wonder if there is anyone who can give her some peace of mind while she awaits the next step of this awful process. You were the only person I could think of who might know.
