This 2 day course is aimed at workers whose role is to support clients back into work. The course starts at a basic level explaining the essential structure of the Benefits System. It then progresses to explain how work affects in and out of work Benefits and the issues involved.
This course will include—
- the structure of the Benefits System
- the qualifying conditions for the main benefits including Income Support, Housing and Council Tax Benefit, Working Tax Credits, Job Seekers Allowance, Employment and Support Allowance
- how the means tested process works, including earnings disregards
- tax credits- calculations and childcare costs
- the Employment and Support Allowance system and the migration process
- the effect of work on Benefits- voluntary work, permitted work, part time work, full time work
- linking rules for ESA and Incapacity Benefit
- help available to get into work
- additional considerations when viewing whether a client will be better off in work
- better off calculations
- losing work- out of work Benefits and the effect of payments from previous employment
- future changes- what's in the pipeline including Universal Credit and Personal Independence Payments
