The Benefits system for those who are above working age has marked differences, often meaning a more generous set of rules. Working age is tied to State Pension Credit age and is changing. State Pension Credit age is currently defined as age 66 from Nov. 2020.
Using case studies, this course examines benefits for those above State Pension Credit age(66 from Nov. 2020)-
- State Pension Credit(including calculating)
- State Retirement Pension and changes in April 2016
- Carers Allowance and additional amounts
- Attendance Allowance- how to qualify and claim
- Council Tax Benefit
- other issues- TV licences, Winter Fuel Payments, mixed age couples where one is above and the other below State Pension Credit Age, Housing Credit, new voluntary class 3A National Insurance contributions, the Bedroom Tax and Benefit Cap, Health Benefits and Bus Passes.
It is a very useful course that sits well with two other courses-
Benefits for Carers and
Benefits and Mental Health(including ESA/ presenting as sick and PIP)
duration— online 1 day (spread over 2 consecutive days 10am- 1pm with a break)
