This course includes the system with Universal Credit in it.

The Benefits System is complex due to the huge number of qualifying conditions, the many changes each year and not least the interaction between the different benefits. There is a clear structure that can be learned whether you are looking to signpost claimants in the correct direction or provide basic advice. A at a glance guide to proposed benefit changes by the Government is included.  

This course will include—

  • why we have different categories of benefits
  • the structure of the benefits system, including key cards for over 20 benefits 
  • the qualifying conditions for the main benefits including Job Seekers Allowance, Employment and Support Allowance, Income Support, Housing and Council Tax Benefit, Child and Working Tax Credits,  Universal Credit and PIP
  • valid claims and appeals
  • maximising benefits; underclaimed benefits and premiums
  • how to sign post and refer cases
  • at a glance guide to the structure of the benefits system
  • briefly,  the main changes to benefits over the last year;  at a glance guide to proposed benefit changes; common and topical benefit problems your clients will experience
  • an overview of Universal Credit and Personal Independence Payments

This course will remain interactive with group working, discussion,  quizzes etc.  and a hard colour copy of the course booklet posted to you.

Course Level- Update (for delegates with or without prior knowledge of the subject)

Course accreditation- the Solicitors Regulation Authority has authorised us to award 5.25 hours Continuing Professional Development(CPD) points for solicitors attending this course. Our allocated CPD reference is EJV/SWTL.

Cancellation

If you cancel the course more than 3 weeks before the commencement date, then a £55 administration fee will be payable. The course fee will remain payable if you cancel the course within 3 weeks of the commencement date. If we cancel the course, then full refunds will be paid to participants (excluding other costs, such as travel).

Transfers

You are free to transfer places between employees within your organisation at no extra cost.
